Voltage regulator location

Working on a 6700 ford, replaced alt. (checks out good) have a new regulator to install but can't find the old one. Light stays on all of the time and will not go out.

ook left rear of engine on wall between cab & engine.

Should be close to or behind the battery box.

found it mounted on the step bracket, under the battery tray!

ok replaced voltage regulator alternator light still on, removed alternator took to shop and stator is burned out, will be picking up tomorrow. Strange thing is without alternator, light went out as I had to do some work this morning so I removed the belt and used the tractor. So now my question is Why doesn't the light work with NO voltage going to it?
