ford 901 transmission input shaft

does anyone have a tip for removing ford 901 selecto speed transmission input shaft - the motor is out of tractor and the input shaft has stripped splines so it needs replacement but I cannot get it removed

If you are going to work on a SOS you need to get a service manual. You can cost yourself lots of money trying to work on one without the manual.
That being said, according to my SOS service manual the input shaft and it's bearings and gears can only be serviced with the transmission completely removed from the tractor.

Stand that transmission on its tail, or wedge the assembly so that the thrust washer does not drop when you pull that shaft.

That's how we did it about 3 years ago - hung the tranny nose down from a chain hoist and worked on it from underneath.
