Ford 600 Dash Light

Hello,
Can somebody shed some light on how to take apart the dome style dash light in order to replace the bulb? I converted my system to 12 volts and would like to put a 12 volt bulb in there. Would anyone happen to have a part number on that? Thanks.

If not rusted out as most are, the socket snaps out from the bottom.

Replacements are available aftermarket.

Thanks for the reply Dean. I assume you have to bend out the tabs that retain it in the dash in order to get at the socket? Or is there a way to remove that ring?

I was able to remove the socket. It had been sitting for so long it was stuck together and seemed like one complete unit. Thanks for all the help.

The whole assembly just snaps into place on the dash panel. Below the surface there are a bunch of spring tabs.

You can remove it from the dash by grabbing it and gently pulling up while rocking it side to side, forward and back.

Fair warning: those spring tabs are kinda thin and if they've gotten rusty, a few of them might break off as you remove it from the dash. My original dash lamp dome is missing probably a third of it's spring tabs but is still holds in place just fine with the tabs that are left.

After the assembly is pulled up out of the dash, you can pull the bulb socket out the bottom to replace the bulb. You might find the bulb socket is rusty, too. I was able to find a perfect replacement at the auto parts store.
