I have heard there were governerment versions of the Ford 3000"s. Anyone happen to know what they would be listed as?

Ford sold lots of different tractor models to the military as well as civilian government agencies. A 3000 would probably have different designation numbers depending on which branch of the service, or which civilian agency bought them. State, county and local municipal governments also bought a lot of Ford tractors, but they generally did not create their own designation numbers for them, except maybe for their own internal inventory information.

Regardless of what the government might have called them, they would still have the original Ford model, serial and production number stampings on the flat spot on the transmission bell housing near the starter, and if it was a new enough 3000 (post April fools day in 1968) then it might even still have the original foil sticker under the hood.

I had a govt surplus 1975 2000. It differed from normal by having the 4000 style planetary rear end.
