Home made wheel weights

I have been watching the thread about wheel weights.
I am appalled at the price for wheel weights and
then there is the transportation. Hasn't anybody
made any? Seems like you could cast some out of
concrete using a cut rubber tire as a form.

We made wts. using old steel implement wheels but couldn't get enough weight. We just ended up using fluid.

About 35 years ago, my dad had an old 9N that someone did the concrete rear wheel weight option to. They used a large diameter galvanized/metal drainage pipe for the inside mold, then the outside of the mold was simply the inside of the wheel rim. This was all facing inwards. I don't remember how they worked out the six bolts to hold the rim to the center, or even if they were six-loop rims. Been a long time.

I know they were unique, and about 10+ years after he sold the tractor and lost track of it, someone told us of a certain 9N they found that had these funny concrete weights inside the rear tire. We knew it was that tractor from the description...

ere are some & if you search YT site, you will find others.

here's a shot of my old 641. Welded a big piece of pipe to the center disc add some rebar or long bolts, a sona tube and pour the concrete. Ain't as pretty as the pie weights but works.
