Oil and filter for Ford 2000

As a newbie tractor owner, I am looking for advice on oil for my just-purchased 1966 Ford 2000 3-cyl gas tractor.

Looks like about everyone on this forum is using 15W40 on nearly every kind of tractor. Does that sound right for my 2000?

I know I'll find out when I start refilling, but about how much oil should it hold?

As for brand, I see many 'likes' for Rotella and a few 'dislikes'. Anyone have any explanation for their reasons for liking/disliking a particular brand?

Is there anything special about the filter that I should pay attention to, or does a fairly run-of-the-mill oil filter fit and work well?

Thanks,
FiddlinFarmer

15w40 oil carrying both C and S ratings is great choice for tractors. brand almost doesn't matter. just about anything produced now is better than wat was around in the 60's. if you are in an arctic area.. I'd jump to a 10w30 c/s rated oil. or better yet. a 5w40 synthetic.

if she uses the big canister with element.. I am pretty sure it is a ch14pl fram. ( and crosses ).

if it is a spin on.. it is almost for sure the dual 300, motorcraft fl1a, fram ph8a, supertech st8a, napa 1452, 1515 etc... dozens of crosses.

where can a guy find the spin on adapter for these 2000 tractors? the big canister filters are a pain with the flat rubber ring

If you studied the history of the api specs and changes that occurred, you can see the problems that cropped up and what the oil produces did to fix it. Chevron delo was always first to meet the newer oil specs and in most cases they could pass the new tests with the oil that was already being sold. That is why I prefer to buy chevron delo as first choice, but as said, its the brand most sold out at wally world as the truckers will grab it first.

I dont know if this is still true as I dont follow the industry like I used to. After chevron, I will buy either mobil delvac or shell rotella. After all, they all pass the latests test.
