78 Ford 1600 4WD leak

I have a 1978 Ford 1600 4WD. After a hard winter
pushing WAY too much snow and ice and using the
4WD the whole time, I noticed an oil leak coming
from the front end. It is not losing oil so I do
not think it is the oil pan gasket. The trans
fluid was low so I think it is perhaps where the
4WD shaft enters the front differential.
Possible? Can someone help diagnose and repairs?
Attached photos of the area I think the leak is.
Also what is the bolt on the right side of the
front end for? Thanks for any help.

It looks to be about where my front axle fill plug is on my 1210, but mine is a rubber plug. New holland parts list shows it to be a gauge- so I'd say that's most likely what it is. ref- http://partstore.agriculture.newholland.com/us/parts-search.html#epc::mr57922ar259040

According to the diagram that "gauge" looks to be your dipstick for fluid level of the front differential.

That meaning it is separate from other sumps and that leak is likely your rear shaft seal and you will find the level low in the diff.
