Tips for freeing up a stuck distributor?

Hi,

thought i'd look into the jumpy timing on my 841. Took off the two clamps. Will. Not. Budge. No twist, no up and down.

Took a piece of softwood and rapped on the bottom a few times. Nope. Heated the area of the block where it seats with a propane torch. Nope.

Sprayed with penetrating oil and gave up for now.

Any other tips?

thanks in advance!

eep it wet with PB Blaster or acetone/ATF mix or the like & maybe some year it will come out. I saw a Corvette lifted off the ground with a fork lift where the chain to the forks was wrapped around the Corvette distributor. And that ain't no bull! My eyes!

Hey Bill Fil.Some folks have had good luck with white vinigar and some form of real light oil.Getting it to the right place is the tricky part.I,ve heard of some folks unsticking pistons using this solution, that and time, time, time!!Is it wet in Tennesse???SO.Al.is to wet to plow or plant

Hi, Mule,

it dried out a little. I plowed and disked thursday night (a 100x100 garden doesnt take long :) and it was maybe a little wetter than one would like but went fine.

The one in my tractor was stuck, and the previous owner took a chisel to the base to get it to spin. Obviously, that destroyed the housing. So I had to get another housing to rebuild...

Got it out. Didn't see any reason for the jumpy timing. Bushing wear was not excessive. Flyweights were sticky and there was a LOT of dirt. Cleaned it all up. Awaiting distributor rotor clip from YT and we'll see what happens.

Oh, and a new coil, too!
