Ford 3600 Part question

Was trying to check the rear end oil. Plug is behind right foot floor board, its a square plug. Not sure what I was thinking I unscrewed the screw right below it. This was a screw that just goes into the case, problem is it was holding something up inside. I can see the threads but it dropped down a little and I'm un able to get it to stay up to re-thread.

Anyone know what it is holding up? I'm wondering if I can go on the left side behind the left foot floor board there is a circular plate, if I take that off can I reach through to hold it and screw it back in. Or am I going to have to take the seat off and try and go in from the top.

It is listed as Item #31 on the center housing and related parts on new holland PN 280353 on the New holland site.

I can get some pictures if it would help.

Any thoughts/help would be appreciated.

That screw holds the tube that the hydraulic return filter attaches to. You should be able to reach across by removing the plate on the left side.

It is tough to do it by yourself.
When you open the round cover and look inside with a flashlight you will see what you need to do. Have someone turn the screwdriver on the right side while you reach in from the left side and hold the tube in place.

Thanks folks I have the shop manual but it doesn't get that detailed. I noticed it doesn't really push (the threads) in the case if I just had a few threads longer on my bolt I think it would have enough pressure to start the threads. You think it's worth cutting me down another bolt just a few threads longer and trying that? I could space it with another washer to keep it from running to deep.

Again thanks for the good details!
