I would like to remove some oil from the hyd. on my 2000 as the dip stick indicates it is way over filled. I would like to pump it out if possible. any one have some ideas on how to do it? I have been looking a pumps, both hand and battery powered.
thanks.

either let it drain from the overfilled plug or try using a kerosine hand transfer pump from el cheapo hardware store.

just pump it out slowly into your bucket and strain and reuse as needed

If you have the early 4 cylinder 2000 I would just take out the bottom bolt/stud on your round inspection cover on the left side of the rearend and let it drain from there as that should get you close to the correct level. May be the same for the later 3 cylinder tractors too but I have not worked on any of them. A little over full won't hurt anything. Just my 2 cents worth Greg NE

Remove the allen head pipe plug in the front of the pump. Screw in a NPT barbed fitting. Attach a piece of hose to the barb. Put the other end of the hose in a bucket. Start the engine. Shut off the engine when you have drained enough.

I think if it was mine... I would open the drain plug and let fly. Do yon know that it isn"t already half water in that compartment? Either way its still not a big deal to drain some off.

Not enough info/history. Does it look clean, dirty or milky? Has it been ran recently? Did you or do you suspect someone just dumped in too much? If it has been sitting and you're not sure why it is high, I would definitely remove the drain plug and be ready to put it back in quickly...if it looks ok. Reason being, if there is moisture in there it will be at the bottom...if it has been sitting...and you definitely want to get that out as well as any debris that may come out. IMO, if you pull off the top, you will be removing the cleanest fluid. If it looks bad and/or you don't know the history change it, it's not worth the risk. If you're not sure what to look for, ask and someone will help you...

Sorry, I didn't notice that you have been around here a while, but I will leave what I wrote. I have a hand pump that has two nipples that you can push on 3/8" rubber tube...one for in one for out ...I'm not sure, but it seems like I got it at an auto parts store.

I'm with Rod. Look at it as an opportunity to clean water crud slime, whatever, from out of the bottom. You should be draining a little off the bottom of every housing of every tractor that does not stay in a climate controlled garage, every year anyway.
