3000 series trans leak

Hello,
I have a model 3000 series tractor that keeps blowing out the pressure line ( small line) that goes to a pump from the transmission. The line goes out the right side of the trans under the gas tank to a pump of some sort and then the larger return line goes back in the trans next to the supply line. Before I got the tractor it was leaking from the fitting and my uncle put a new rubber cup type replacement o-ring and it seemed to fix the leak but while I was running it blew out and blew oil everywhere. Any help would be appreciated. It has as 8 spd trans.
Thanks

Not sure what you're describing. The transmission on a 3000 should not have any external hydraulic lines, unless it is the Select-O-Speed transmission, in which case there was an optional transmission oil cooler and the lines would only go up to the radiator.

It sounds like you are trying to describe the lines for the 3 point hydraulics, which come out of the right side of the rear axle center housing, not the transmission. If that is the case, then the lines that you are referring to would run from the right side of the rear axle center housing forward along the right side of the exterior of the transmission and then up and behind the steering column under the fuel tank to the hydraulic pump which is mounted on the left side of the rear of the engine.

Which end of the line is blowing the seal? The end at the pump, or the end at the side of the rear axle center housing?

Keep in mind that there were two different designs for the lines and connectors, an earlier design (pre-10/69) and a later design (from 10/69 onwards). So we need to know whether it is the earlier design or the later design, and which end of the line is having the problem.

I assume you have a later model tractor.
Those danmed lines were not one of Ford's better ideas.
First off buy a new nut from the dealer.
They are expensive things - about $40.
Put the nut on first.
Then take the line and use a drift punch of appropriate size and expand the diameter of the line slightly so the new nut will grab it properly.
Then reassemble.
Let us know how how it goes.
Sean,
There were 3 different pressure lines on those models.
The late type like he describes, an earlier one with a flare fitting, and the earliest ones with the 3 bolt flange.
