801 Powermaster Pertonix Ignition

This is what happens when I have been up too long,
I bought a Pertonix EI for a 6 volt positive
ground and decided to install it today. I have
everything hooked up and now I am at the point of
wiring the system. The instructions say to wire
the black/white wire to the negative side of the
coil and then the black wire goes to the ignition
switch and a 20 gauge wire to the + bat or
chassis. My original connections are from the
Dist. side of the coil to the distributor and from
the batt side of the coil to the solenoid. So the
question is do I put the black/white wire on the
dist side and the black wire on the batt side and
what about the 20 gauge wire the instructions
state?

i suggest you re-evaluate your wireing.

if one side of your coil was to dizzy, and the other side of the coil was to the solenoid. you have an -always- on ignition.. which I don't think you have / had unless it wasn't shutting off for you.

...and a 20 gauge wire to the + bat or

Every Petronix unit I've ever used there are 2 wires one to the Bat side of the coil the other to the distributor side.

ell, then, have you ever used a Positive ground Pertronix unit?

The instructions say...
Connect black ignitor wire directly to the ignition switch wire...
Connect black/white wire to negative side of ignition coil...
Connect an insulated awg 20 copper stranded wire from the positive coil terminal to the positive battery or chassis...
The black/white ignitor wire and the awg 20 copper wire should be the only wires connected to the coil

Since my first post I checked the resistance on my coil and it is only at 1 ohm and the intructions say to have a minimum of 1.5 ohms so in the mean time I will be ordering a new coil

lint, are you now clear on the instructions or do you still have a question?

My mistake for 6v pos ground from there web site remove the hot wire from the coil connect it to the black wire. Put the black-white wire on the coil post that you just removed the hot wire from. Then run a wire from what was the distributor side of the coil to ground.

Ok, I ran the black/white wire to dist. side of the
coil, there is a wire from the starter solenoid (s)
going to the batt side of the coil. I ran the black
wire to the ignition wire and I dont have anything.

Clint, I am quoting you here :
"Connect black ignitor wire directly to the ignition switch wire...
Connect black/white wire to negative side of ignition coil...
Connect an insulated awg 20 copper stranded wire from the positive coil terminal to the positive battery or chassis...
The black/white ignitor wire and the awg 20 copper wire should be the only wires connected to the coil "

Now just follow your own words.....which includes, "The black/white ignitor wire and the awg 20 copper wire should be the only wires connected to the coil '. That means get rid of the wire coil-to-solenoid! AND ADD, "Connect an insulated awg 20 copper stranded wire from the positive coil terminal to the positive battery or chassis...".
