I noticed it missing and checked plugs. Holding my finger over the plug holes, #4 cylinder don't have much compression like the other three has and its the one missing.
I can remove plug wire with it running and no change in #4
So am I looking at broke rings or a valve problem ??

I would hope for a stuck valve. Has it been setting a while?
A full compression test (dry/wet) may help narrow it down.

I'd be thinking valves.....

pull side cover off and look at push rods. might have one kicked off the lifter.

Intakes are more prone to stick than exhausts..

Rings or valve... or head gasket. I'd bet on a burned or stuck valve (or bent pushrod) or blown head gasket before the rings....unless it's an ether addict.

my son came and we done an air leak test. exhaust valve leaking. Removed valve cover and side cover.
Someone or previous owner maybe had exhaust valve too tight.
We went ahead and adjusted all them.
purrs like a Ford now !!

must have been way tight... as long as it didn't burn and it's holding now.. you dodged a bullet and are good to go.

Awesome! Glad to hear you got it going AND that it was a cheap,
easy fix! Those are always the best! Thanks for the update.
