did the TDC. put wires where I thought they should go, no good. so I moved the wires CCW. on the third move it fired up. boy I like the sound of the 134. the engine ran for about five min. then died. no sputs, spits or sputters, just shut down. now I could not get the spring clip to fit so I wrapped plumbers tape around the dist shaft. think maybe that's why it stalled?
I cannot thank you guys enough for your suggestions, ideas, butt kicking and putting up with my profound ignorance of all things electrical. the pic is the way the wires are now.

good thing you beat me to it! I would have suggested you check the fuel tank. congrats on winning the battle.

after looking at some other pics you guys sent I noticed that when my 2000 was re-painted the hoses
plug wires darn near everything was blue. wonder if the paint had something in it the critters liked ??

as you found, tape unde rhte rotor works. however.. if you have the 6$ clip.. might as well use it.

notice the shaft has a flat spot for the clip flat...

Hi probably not the paint. I find most critters that eat that kinda stuff are smart enough to eat that to grind down their teeth, than eat lead from a gun barrel to do it wink wink!.
I Got a couple a tractors I picked up sat in guys barns for a few years, something with sharp teeth has eaten large chunks off the tire lugs also.
Glad you got it running in the end.
Regards Robert
