p/a rim on 3-cyl. 4000

Ultradog and I were discussing narrowing up a 4000 with 38" p/a rims this morning. Being a non-runner, any adjusting would be by hand. I've never tried it, but can those cast centers be swapped side-to-side, like you do for half the settings on manual adjust, steel center wheels? Just looking at them (on my tractors), I'm thinking not...

Off the top of my head I'll say not as well. IIRC the cast centers used with p/a rims have counterbores where the lug nuts sit. Reverse the wheels and the lug studs will be too short, even for a deadstick roll around.

Original op manual implies the centers are not reversible. Mentions two adjustment ranges based on position of clamps on the disc, not disc offset in or out.

I knew about swapping the clamps inside or outside the disk. And you're right - they do have counter bores for the lug nuts. Thanks.

Now I wish I had looked closer.
I assumed they were reversible but have never messed with pa rims before.
I did notice that the lug nuts only stuck out about 1/4" from the center flange.
So I assumed they were the T or 'top hat' style lug nuts like you see on some of the utility/industrial models.
