Timing mark Ford 3 cyl diesel

I wd like to adjust the valves I looked in IT service manual..there are instructions to adjust valves and refers to place the engine on TDC timing mark. I looked for an hole in the casting that permits to see the timing mark on the flywheel did not find one. Does somebody knows where to look ?

Is it possible to remove the starter without remove the injection pump...seems very little clearance in between.

In the steel cover plate behind the block and in front of the flywheel. Right side below the oilpan rail.

The starter comes off without removing anything else.

The difficult part is getting the rear bolt out and back in. Try a 9/16" socket (3/8" drive), a 6" wobble extension, a 2-1/2" wobble extension, and a 3/8" ratchet. The wobble extensions give you flexibility to work with some misalignment.
