Rotary mower

Rusty,
I'd say it depends on the brand. I pulled a 10' Howse(HICO) with my 4610 without any problems, but I would not have tried to pull a Mohawk or Servis(Rhino) of that size. I don't know of any other brand that is as light as the Howse, but I sure wouldn't recommend it for heavy brush-cutting.

It should have no problem handling just about any 6' rotary mower. I have an old heavy duty Woods 5' on the back of my '73 4000 with the gasoline 201 engine and it doesn't even know it's back there. I go over saplings as big as 1.5" in diameter and it chops them up like you put them through a wood chipper.

Looking at the specs on that mower, it says that it's for tractors in the 30 to 120 hp range, which is a pretty wide range, but the PTO on your tractor should be somewhere between 50 and 55 hp, so it should handle it fine. The specs also say that it's capable of cutting things up to 3" in diameter, but I would guess that is probably only when hooked to tractors in the upper end of the rated hp range, but as long as you stay under 2" I would think that you would have no problem. I've never tried to cut anything over 1.5": with mine, but from the results so far I don't doubt that mine could handle 2" easily.

You want at least a 6' on it.
If the mower is a light duty unit you could go 7'
My 3000 handles a heavy 6' Bush Hog® just fine.
Front end get a little light but not too bad.

I modified the 3 point on it as it was set up for cat 2,3
Changed it to cat 1,2
Then bought stay bars.
First time I've ever used them on anything.

The 3 point category should be a clue. I would replace the top link with one made of chain or not use a top link so it will flex when going through a low place.

The BB720X would be a good choice.

I use a BB720X with a MF 533. The 533 is the 2007 modernized version of the 135 with a NA 202 CI Perkins engine rated at 45 PTO HP.

With 4 front weights, the 533 handles the 720X well but I sometimes find myself in low/2nd in the very heavy stuff.

I would not go to 7' unless it is light and the cover that you plan to cut is also light.

I also have a 7' BB840X that I use with a 60 PTO HP FWA MF 2635 (220 CI turbo engine). I've found myself in low/3rd in heavy stuff before and can imagine situations where the mower would not clear well requiring low/2nd.

Luckily, our land is almost flat as a board. The tractor is also capable of Cat 1 and 2, I might just have to buy a different top link. I have the balls for the lower arms already.

Thanks for the input guys. I figured it would work but I just didn't what to overwork the engine and PTO drive line, and if it's think I'm happy to have IPTO!
