Differential Lock on a 65 4000

I just purchased a 1965 Ford 4000 Row Crop and I do not see a differential lock on it anywhere.
What year did they start putting Diff Locks on the 3 cylinders tractors?

Being new to this model, I am learning. I do not even see any place it would go, so with your comment, it's possible it never came with one. I am in the process of removing the Hydraulic pump, and it is turning out to be a adventure. I can not believe you have to take the top cover off to take the pump out. I can see this is not going to be a easy or inexpensive repair.

I have a 1973 4000 without a differential lock. It was not a standard feature, it was an option. If you look at the parts diagrams there are 2 part numbers listed for the right side axle trumpet, one for "W/diff lock" and one for "L/diff lock" the 'W/" means "with" and the "L/" means "less".

As stated, it was an option on that series. Check out this thread for a picture from the literature: http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ford&th=560393

Lift cover does not have to removed. The tube between pump and flow control plate is pushed up into flow control plate. Has very small wire snapring on it. Many years of dirt and paint makes hard to find.

Not that it really matters, but as far as I know, the 3-cylinder 4000 row crops (4200) weren't available until 1967. Could you post the numbers from the bellhousing? Pictures too, if possible. We like to see new acquisitions. :)

on the "platform" tractors, the lever can be turned half a turn so it will sit flat on the platform, out of the drivers way. Its a little round thing that is pulled up and turned 1/2 turn and then dropped back down. so it can be hard to see... It will be by the drivers rear right heal... sorry if redundant... bill
