Hole in Hydraulic line from pump to final drive

Is there anything behind the plate on the final drive where the hydraulic lines go into. Need to take lines off to braze a hole in the metal line. Can you buy these lines or am I better off having it repaired?

Hi Robb,

Welcome to the forum. What tractor are you working on? - that really helps us. Also what do you mean by final drive?

Final drives are used to drive the tracks on track driven equipment. This allows the individual clutches and brakes to steer the unit.

Sorry. Tractor is a Ford 4000 (1965??) The lines come out of the hydraulic pump, down the right hand side of tractor and go into the rear end (underneath the running boards). The hole is right in the middle of this line.

Your tractor must either have an SOS transmission or a crash box that does not have Independent PTO as they were the only 3 cylinder 4000s that used the side pump and external lines.
It should not be hard to braze either of those lines though you may have to drain the oil out of the rear end to get it out of the lines before brazing if you do it in place.
There is a 3 bolt flange on the pump and 4 bolt on the rear end. Easy to remove.
Nothing behind them to worry about except I would replace the Orings if you remove it.
I have a good set of lines from a 4000 here if you find you can not repair the one you have.
