Hydraulics in extreme weather..

My 641 is required to open the driveway in extreme cold weather...this year -20 was not rare. The lift takes some time to warm up, I get that and I usually don't start working until the temp gauge is in the lower green. But it got me thinking...

Is it hard on the seals etc. to lift and lower the 3pt with the oil being as thick as cement?

No idea...have had it less than a year....whatever the PO had in it...
Waiting for spring to swap it out with a known oil.

don't want to sound harsh.. But I call operator error/abuse on this one.

I've never bought a tractor that i didn't come home and immediately service.. unless i watched / helped the prev owner service it beofre purchase.. and that's only happened a couple times!

could be gear oil in the hyds as said.

or cheap thick utf.

in -20 id find the premium utf.. or maybee even ATF in the hyds..

abuse is my middle name!
LOL..
I'll swap it out before I plow in the spring..
Hopefully I wont need to push any more snow this year!

is there a good all seasons UTF I should put in our is it something I have to switch out seasonally?

no reason to swap out the premium utf oil.

SOME utf oils have poor viscosity mods.. and are like jelly in the cold.

either good utf.. or atf in -20 weather. ( for hyds )

Traveler Premium UTF from Tractor Supply any good?

Pours down to -44.

I bought a cheap hyd fluid from rural king that was
suppose to work in Jubilee, which it did, until
temps were below 0. It works just fine at temps
above freezing. I hate to spend good money for the
CHN134, but I may before next winter.

Unless someone has something cheaper that works in
sub zero temps

As redruff said, Traveller's Premium UTF from Tractor Supply is just over half the cost of New Holland 134D and it is basically the same thing and stays fluid in colder temperatures.
