Will my Ford 860 pull this?

Thanks, glad I posted out here before I just ran out and bought it. I did ask the seller if he thought I'd pull it with my 860 and he said no problem... Buyer beware

Thanks,

John

No, an 860, just looking for something cheap that I can use as a secondary tillage tool for my tractor. I'll keep looking, hopefully find a used disc or other implement in the $300 to $500 range.

You can pull it with an 860 if you set the gauge wheels so that the chisels are only in the ground about 2".
I see at least 7 chisels on that one. In have a 9 chisel and it works the snot out of my 5000.

if you can find a tool like this it will break up your ground and I think you should be able to handle it fine.

I pull it with a TO-35 ferguson
it is called a field tiller or cultivator, this one was made by cutting the snap couple off the tool and adding a 3 pt hitch.
ford and ferguson both made one back in the day so there should be a number of them out there.

it had 9 shanks and two gauge wheels but I took two of the shanks off and the gauge wheels.
that lightened the load

it does a good job of breaking up the soil and leaves it level, then you can come back in and disc or whatever.

Depends on how deep you drop it in. :)
Someone saw my Grandpa's disk (15') hooked behind the 4600, and asked if the 4600 could pull it. Grandpa said, "Sure, if I keep it raised!"
I think you'd need to run it quite shallow, or drop a couple shanks. But at that price...

I have a 9 shank similar to that, which I first removed 2, then 2 more & at 5 shanks, my 44hp Farmall will pull it fairly well in 2nd gear in sandy loam, but it is still working hard.

If it has category one pins I'd say you would be all right It was probably designed for tractors in your hp range.
