Bleed the pump that got it started to move won"t go up all the way now I can raise it up by hand about 8 or 10 inches. any advise would be thankful.

A pump with poor prime will do just what you say. One quick way to clear out the air is to plumb a clear hose from the priming plug on the pump and let it run back into the fill opening. You're likely to see lots of air bubbles.

The chattering usually points to one of the pistons in the pump isn't working - May have trash lodged in it.

If you can't clear the air bubbles, worst case is the wobble shaft seal has failed - They're known for wearing a groove where the seal runs.

But let's not jump to conclusions. Try the replumbing and hope for the best.

Beautiful tractor, my favorite, I did the same level of refresh on one a year ago and am looking for another. My pump was in the same condition, could bleed it but it would get back to air in a couple weeks. The pump rebuild is easily done, the kit is reasonably priced. Order the shaft if you wish, mine had a little groove, I didnt push the seal all the way home so it ran in a different spot. The trick with a stick welder to get the bearing race out seemed formidable but was easy and the race fell out once it cooled. Smooth fluid power after the rebuild and hasnt needed bled again. Again, great looking machine.

If you want to give it a little nicer finish especially on the old paint you didn't repaint, buy a couple of cans of clear enamel. You might be amazed at what the out come is. I've had tractors that I've sold in the past that the paint was good only faded. By painting with the clear they looked good but it didn't seem like I was trying to hide something. It gave them the, Wow, this tractor was really taken good care of.
