If this line is clogged, can it cause the engine to stop running? It can sit a couple minutes and it will fire up again, and then shuit off again. Anyone had this problem before?

Yes, if the return line is plugged it will do just what you discribed. Most times it is a worn flex ring in the Roosa pump that causes this. I have fixed hundreds of them and it shouldnt cost much more than 3-4 hundred bucks at a good pump shop.Call around and price shop. Some of the big boys will want 8 hundred to a grand for the same job. If you cant find someone in your area give me a call I would be glad to help you out. Good luck,, Al 231/757/0064

A quick check for a return restriction, with the timing cover loose to allow fuel to leak from the housing see if the engine will run without dieing. If so you have return problems from the retainer ring failing as Al mentioned, and pump will need serviced. Don't just clean and think all is well, if run long enough and the retainer pins are sheared off you will have MUCH more damage than you have now. Just mailed back a 3010 pump for the same trouble.
