3000 value and question(s)

All, I'm looking at a '70 3000D that a friend has. Been sitting a while, originally used in turkey barn before he got a newer green tractor with loader and 4x4. The goods: front tires are good, rears not matched but in very usable shape, 8 speed trans with live PTO per the build code. Engine was rebuilt after current owner got the unit and not a lot of hours since. Tach shows 4500 hours but not working due to 12v alternator conversion. Started up with relative ease with a boost because of a bad battery. Ran out well and pulled off in 8th gear with no issue. The BAD: all 4 tie rods are shot with a good deal of slop, Needs battery, crude horiz. exhaust setup, half @$$ 12v alternator conversion, lower link pins worn, brakes stop tractor but need adjustment, all fluids need servicing and the biggie, the 3ph control lever is not turning the shaft and operating the hydraulics. I tried moving the nut with a wrench but it turned and not the shaft. Need opinions on value in present condition and probable causes/cost to fix the hydro issue. The rest I can handle no sweat, did the same stuff on my 8N in the past. Thanks in advance!

Are you talking about the touch control handle?
Like, you can raise the handle but the lift arms don't raise?
Elaborate on that for us.
As to value?
It's always hard to say.
You say tires are useable as is.
How is the tin and paint?
Any remote valves?
PTO spins properly?
Drawbar is there?
I assume it is manual steering?
Tie rods are cheap. Probably buy all 4 for a C note.
I would price an average 3000 from about $3000 to $5000+ for one in excellent condition.
Lift not working would certainly knock some off that. It's rare here to see one in any condition for under $2500.
Photos would help.
3000 is a very good tractor. Not hard to work on, good parts availability and generally familiar if you've had an N before.

I am gonna say $1500 and accept the issues if not look for a better 3000... If no power steering pass it up no matter what the price..

PTO works and stops properly. Tin is good and paint is ok and but original. Will need a battery tray for sure. Has all original lights and they do work. Has factory draw bar and no remotes. Yes has manual steering. Will try to get pix later this week.

is the rod that handle and cast base are on, stay still and not rotate, while the 3pt handle and it's cast base rotate?

if so, that means if you remove the nut and unscrew the bolts to remove the handle, the base should come off the shaft easy. see if htere is a sheared or missing key

I didn't think to check that. The nut turns freely and will take apart and check for that before I get too carried away with trying to unfreeze the rod. Thanks soundguy!
