just got a 850 today got it running and it starts to creep forward a little when cold,, put the clutch in and its fine and when it warms up it fine also,, it has over 1inch of free also thanks cdv

Most any machine with a non-automatic transmission will do that when cold. What happens the oil is thick so it in turn causes drag on the gears so yep it will try to move some

It probably has 40 year old gear oil in the transmission. Drain it out and use Universal tractor/hydraulic oil meeting the New Holland 134 specification.

Typical with 90 weight gear oil. One reason why I use NH 134 universal fluid. Change out all three reservoirs (transmission, hydraulics and differential) and you'll be certain the hydraulics aren't contaminated with gear oil.

normal
this time of year, just leave the block/wedge you put on the clutch pedal, when parked, in place till the engine warms enough to take a load.
