had the pump rebuilt and put on tractor. still have low pressure reading on testing. about 300. and hydraulic will not operate. repair people say their work is right. so can yall give me any ideas what you think could be the problem.

Hi Chuck, welcome to the forum.

Have you bled the air from the pump? That's where I would start. There is a pipe plug on the top of the front of the pump. With the tractor running, slowly loosen the plug until oil comes out around the plug. If you see bubbles, let it be for a bit until the bubbles stop. Then tighten the plug. See if that helps.

00 PSI ought to lift some small load...for sure the arms! Where did you attach gauge to measure the 300 & what were all the settings & conditions when measured?

the reading was taken from yhe fitting in the front of pump. it went down to about 150. and it will lift the arm but no or little load

nce the hydraulics lift the arms to top of travel and you leave touch control in lift posn & shut off engine, will the arms support your weight? For how long?

Could possibly be that your pressure relief valve may have been your problem all along, you have to trap oil to build pressure, just a thought.

300 psi measured at the pump bleeder is quite low, but as JMOR said you should be getting some lift. Since its only 300 psi, either something is wrong with the pump or you have a good size leak some place. If you assume the pump is OK, then the leak must be between the pump and the control valve. Not many options here. I'm thinking pressure relief valve or an o-ring under the top cover. I suppose the pressure tube in the tranny could be leaking too, but if it was you would be getting oil out the shifter hole. Pressure relief valves rarely go bad, so I wouldn't jump to that conclusion.

The only thing I can think of is to pull the inspection port off the left side of the hydraulic reservoir (Dip Stick - PTO lever plate) and take a look inside with the tractor running. You might see something with a mirror and flashlight.

(quoted from post at 10:09:54 12/13/13) put a new pressure relief value on it still doesn't work.
top it with the new parts & diagnose the problem. The reason I asked you the following questions yesterday was an attempt to diagnose & isolate the problem area. In this instance, depending upon your findings/answers, we might then look to the lift ram or declare it good & move the investigation elsewhere. Anyone can guess forever, but I try not to do that.

Forgot to paste the questions from yesterday!
Once the hydraulics lift the arms to top of travel and you leave touch control in lift posn & shut off engine, will the arms support your weight? For how long?
