Cast steel exhaust for vertical pipe

We"ll still can"t find the cast steel piece that goes on the outlet of the horizontal muffler to a vertical pipe on my 861. Been thinking of making one out of 1.25 Id sch 80 pipe. A couple of weld 90"s and short nipples should do it. The only thing I am concerned about is the pipe expanding and damaging the the gas tank bracket where it bolts to the head when it heats up. I wish someone would start mfg these fitting again. What do you think?

That is a steel pipe. They don't make the cast one for the 172.you
can still get them for the 134.

It's been awhile since I have seen one Vito, but with the bracing web and the thickness that it shows on Messicks site, it sure looks like it is cast. Their site shows it being for both the 134 and 172.

I tried to get one last year from my dealer for a 172.I gave him all
the correct part information and he came up with the steel piece
from CNH.The one I bought for the 134 was cast and more than
double the price you stated.

That was a good part number show crop, local NH dealer has
one sitting on counter for me. I thought it was going to be the
cast steel one like the one on my NAA. Thanks for the info!

Jeff....you have an interesting idea there. I would sure like to find an alternative to my bent steel pipe arrangement on the 860. It works fine, but I can't get it quite vertical w/o rubbing the hood. Bugs me every time I look at it.

Last time I priced the cast piece from CNH it was in the $150 range.

I bet that your dealer would sell you one too!!

Lone star I picked up the exhaust pipe bracket after work
today, $65 and change plus tax, 1.625 id, 1.75od. Mine clears
the hood by 1.5".

Well...I went on Partspring & found it for same price($59+)....but they want $20 to ship it!

Guess I'll stop by the CNH dealer on my next trip to the farm & have them order it.

I still can't figure out why the part dropped in price since last year or so....
