Ford 641 tune up

I just got a tune up kit for my 641. I got it from Steiner. In the pack they put Autolite 216 plugs. I was reading in my shop manual and it calls for a ATL3a. Will the 216 plugs they sent me work??

Yes the 216 will work but they are not the preferred plug for the gas we have now days. Auto lite 437s are the recommended plug for the ford tractors

216 plugs are too cold for unleaded gas. Most suppliers know this, some dont.My 640 WONT run on the old plug heat range. You can try them but keep a set of 437 plugs ready.Avoid prolonged idling because that can gas foul spark plugs.

I use 437's mostly.
I do save those 216's that are always in there though.
They work good in my Kohlers.

really depends on your tractor use and condition.
casual use, lots of idling, and an old engine, 437's are better.

A good engine and the tractor doing what it was designed to do,
HARD work, plowing or brush-hogging for hours/days on end,
the engine will be happier with the cooler 216's
