Need to know where I can find the right size screws to atach the fuel shut off valve to tank.(2)Also any help on speeding up lift on 640 ford tractor size of screwc according to ford parts is # 12 screw 24 threads per inch 3/4 inch long.Hex head looked all over Andalusia Alabama and didn,t come up with them thanks Ala-mule

Do you have a hardware store, Home Depot, Lowe's or Tractor Supply in Andalusia? That's a standard size screw so any hardware store ought to have them. Maybe you will have to buy a Phillips , Torx or Allen head screw if they don't have Hex heads. Might even have to buy a 1" length and cut it off to 3/4".

what kinda oil is inthe lift.

other than slow.. is it strong?

might have too thick of oil.. IE.. never know what the pr put in there if a new to you machine. IE.. might be 140 lube in there...

Go see Frank at the Andalusia NAPA store, he should be able to fix you up. You'll need some o-rings too, cause I'll bet the valve will leak. There is a tutorial on this site that shows how to fix the valve.

soundguy I use drive train 30 hyd oil from a local distributer,Works good in all my other equipment.Any filter or valve that might be causing lift to be slow. It like me its old. I have the maintenance manual that covers the tractor

THANKS TEX I will check it out. After market stuff leaves a lot to be desired in my humble opinion. What part of the GREAT STATE OF TEXAS are you in.I love East Texas!!

by 'drive train 30 hyd oil ' I'm guessing you mean some sort of UTF oil. if so.. it's fine.

if the lift is strong.. but merely slow, then do this test.

with a load lifted, shut off tractor.. does it leak down ( pretty fast? )

at high rpm does it pick up speed?

hve you done a redneck flow test?

chain 3pt lift down, or put heavy implement on it.

remove plug on 3x5 cover under seat, screw a fitting with a nipple in there with a piece of hose on it aimed into a bucket. mark the bucket for 1g. start tractor and time it to fill 1 g in the bucket. can't go too much farther as sump only nominally has 2 in it.

lift 3pt handle then start....

figure your gpm.

at max throttle... you could make about 4gpm when the system was new....

that's a gallon in 15 seconds.
