NAA won't hardly start

So after finally gettting my NAA started by fixing a badly connected wire from the coil to points, it still won't start reliably and "misses" when it does start. I'm planning on replacing the distributer cap and roter. Does anyone have any other suggestions? (I already replaced the points and set them at .025)

Thanks in advance.

did you double check the dizzy to see if there is much play in the shaft? also.. does hte rotor have the spring clip under it?

any 1 particular cyl missing?

can you move the missing cyl by trading out a wire or a plug?

what do the plug colors tell you?

Hard starting can be fuel or spark problem.
#1 check your spark and make sure it is a good blue/white and will jump a 1/4 inch gap at ALL spark plug wires.
#2 you need a good steady flow of gas out of the carb drain plug.
#3 you need good compression.
A weak starter can cause weak spark. A miss can be bad spark plugs or a intake problem or even a valve problem or bad cap or rotor but trouble shoot then parts NEVER part then trouble shoot

Spark plugs can give a lot of problems. My 640 wont run on H10s.#1 cylinder gas fouls often.H12s fixed the problem.I find you can foul h12s with prolonged idling.Unleaded gas seems to be the problem. My 640 started at 22 degrees 2 mornings ok but you have to use the choke to keep it running.I sawed fire wood for 3 hours with my PTO saw yesterday morning with no problems.Still 6 volt and starts fine.Once the engine is warm it runs fine.
