Radius rod bolt sheared

On a 73 3000 the 86531713 bolt where radius rod attaches to front axle is sheared off at the nut end. What grade of bolt should I use to replace this? It is a 5/8 18 thread size, 5" bolt

If it's like a lot of those pins it's rusted solid in the hole and it doesn't even need a nut to keep it in place. Just leave it alone. Or did you twist the nut off trying to remove it?

ditto that about being on tight and rusted!

I had to drill and torch one out of my 68 3000 UGH.. what a job that was. finally got it hot enough from drilling about half of it and torching on it to drive it out.....

I haven't tried to remove it before, just happened to notice today that the nut was gone. Upon closer examination found the bolt was sheared right at the surface. No telling how long its been like that. I think I'll put in a new one just to be safe.

I had the same problem, went to the Ford Dealer about 10 year ago and bought factory pins that belong there. So far they have not sheared. It was worth it..

laneman,
i think you will find that it's a 7/8" bolt about 6" long. You won't find it at home cheapo.

Laneman,
looked your's up on New holland web site. It is 5/8" x 6" Sorry for the previous post.
