A question on a 4600

1. I pulled a 6 "brush hog all day yesterday. I noticed it starting to get hot on me later in the day. The temp gauge was just inside the red. I stopped mowing and checked the coolant level. It was ok. Is this normal. Its a diesel.

A diesel runs cooler then a gas so no not normal. Check the fan belt and make sure it is good and tight. If it is then your thermostat maybe sticking at times. Or your radiator is clogged up with grass etc

not normal.

check fan and belt as said. also check to make sure rad core is not plugged up with chaff.

I pull a very heavy 6' mower on my 4600 thru tree-weed junk.

It will pull, in normal temp, till I run out of steam.. not the tractor.. ;)

On the radiator being clogged, sometimes you can't see it from the outside but you should be able to look through it which is how the air gets through it for cooling. If you can't neither is the air.

Fan belt tension is easy to check. Can you rotate the fan with the engine off? If so, too loose.
