Hi I have a 1945 8n motor stamping, but the rest of the tractor is a 2n[3 speed transmission Hi low shift on left side bolt patter 2n on the rear wheels]any who sees the tractor says nice 2n painted like a 8n.I have had the tractor restored, the fellow who did the work is a 86 years Old and has worked on these tractor since the were build. He said the tractor was made at time of a model change and the 1945 war time so they used what they had to complete the tractor and out the factory doors, my question is,is this possible.

Welcome! Anything is possible. My guess is, if it's really a '45, someone has retrofitted the 8N engine to it.

if the block is from an 8n.. it wasn't installed in 45.

late 47 is when thy would have been available.

9N made from 1939 to 1942 then in 42 the 2N came out and ran till 1947 and in 48 the 8N came out. Notice that the model and year number is the same as in 9N 39 and 2N 42 and 8N 48. The engine from any of them will bolt right up to any of them. Have a friend that had a 9N/8N mutt as in it had a 1951 8N side mount distributor engine but the rest of it was a 9N
