new to old tractors

New User
just got an old ford tractor and wanting to see if i am understanding this correctly.
my model number is 641
my serial number is 11791 and has a diamond before and after it. i was told by someone that it is a 1953 or 1954 jubilee, but from what i have been able to find, i think that may be incorrect. can someone tell me exactly what i have and the date. thanks for any help.

Looks like you have a late 1957 Ford 641 with a 4 speed tranny. You can check the serial #s by going to the left side of this page in Research& Info, and clicking on Serial Numbers.

Thanks Dan, 1957 is what i came up with also but a friend of mine argued that i was wrong. you settled it for us.

whichever friend told you that it was a naa when the bellhousing clearly showed it had to be at least a 55+ 00/01 model needs some schoolin...

Well since your new to tractors I will fill in a couple blanks and also show you how to 100% show your friend what the truth is.
The 601 series tractors came out in 1958, yes they started making them in 57 but like cars was still called a 1958 year There where a few models like the 641 and the 651 and 661 etc.
Now so you can show your friend put your left han in the starter and your right hand on the clutch pedal. Look down and you should see 2 bolt holes. Just above those bolt holes are the model number and serial number and should look sort of like this
6 4 1
^%^(^%%^
There may a diamond etc before and after the model number but that number conforms what model you have since it if was a Jubilee or NAA the modal would say NAA

Some people think that every red & gray Ford tractor with a cyclops hood emblem is a Jubilee. And if it doesn't have the cyclops emblem it's an 8N.

(quoted from post at 07:50:37 10/21/13)

I was told by someone that it is a 1953 or 1954 jubilee

Whoever told you that has no idea what they're talking about. The NAA was made as a 1953 & 1954 model year tractor, and since 1953 was the 50th anniversary of the Ford Motor Company they called the 1953 model the Golden Jubilee, but not the 1954 model, so saying that it might be a 1953 or 1954 Jubilee is like saying that a particular car might be a 2003 or 2004 50th anniversary Corvette, when in fact they only made the 50th anniversary Corvette as a 2003 model.

If it has 641 stamped into it, then they know even less.

Hi Donny;

Congrats on your new toy. Check the link below to Smith's Old Ford Tractors, there is a wealth of great info for anyone wanting to know about their tractor. From you serial number it was nearing the end of production for 1957. The 1958 models began with serial number 11977. If you're going to do the work on your tractor I recommend a Ford Shop Manual, Master Parts Catalog and Operator's Manual. They will help quite a bit. And of course, there is abundant knowledgeable people on this site more then willing to help you. Have fun!

Stock up on aspirin and keep a jacket handy.
Once you catch that old Ford tractor fever, it's hard to shake!
Welcome to the forum! :)

and the jubilee /naa has that nice big nut in the center or the rear axle end, the hundred series has a different and much stronger rear end
