which oil filter does the ford 3000 3cyl gas take?

Spin-on or cartridge? Spin on is NH 300 Dual or
CarQuest 85775 (or cross to your favorite brand/
supplier). Not sure on the cartridge type.

It depends.

Earlier ones, made from 1/1/65-10/31/69 used a cartridge type, which comes as a kit with the o-rings and washers that you need when you change it. The kit was originally part number DDPN6731A, which has been superseded by part number 86546611, which cross references to a number of off-the-shelf filters, including the FRAM CH14PL and WIX 51279.

Later models, made from 11/1/69 and up, used a spin-on type, which is part number 86546614, and also cross references to a number of off-the-shelf filters including the Fram PH8A, and WIX 51452.

They also made an adapter plate for the earlier models that allowed you to use the spin-on filters, and that adapter takes the same spin-on filters as the later models.
