Got the crankshaft out yesterday, and took it in today. The journal on the spun rod bearing was way worn...too worn to machine. They offered to weld it up and then grind it down for $500. By the time I have them dress the rest up, it'll be ovee$600, so I think I'll get a new one. Everything else seems ok, but as it turns out, a lady I work with and sell hay to has a husband who worked for John Deere and is now a diesel mechanic in the army. He's come over once, and has offered to help in exchange for hay, so I'll have someone with knowhow putting it back together.
