Is the rear seal on the crank hard to replace? what kind of seal is it? this is a real handy machine..

I have done a couple and I would put the level of difficulty at high. The last time, I used a two piece neoprene type to replace the original rope seal and it has been holding well. I would not want to do it upside down which pretty much requires removal of the motor. For me the tough part was the wedge seals between the rear main cap and the block. I had them in and out about four times before I was satisfied with them. There has been a lot of dialogue about a Victor seal that uses RTV silicone going through a special nozzle to take the place of the wedge seals. Use of this kit would probably make it fairly easy to do it with the motor in frame.
