Ford 600 ignition points

I don't use my 600 all that often, but when
I do it seems I have a film on the points and
must be cleaned each time after it sits over
a month. Are there an solutions to keeping
the film off the points? The cap and rotor
all seem to be tight.

tart it more often. Keep it in a temperature/humidity controlled environment :^)

No.

It will help to use only premium contact sets, e.g., Std. Ign. Blue Streak.

I burnish the contacts with an IBM card (a piece of brown paper bag will work) before starting upon long periods of non use.

NEVER use a point file unless you want to use it after just about any period of non use over a week or two.

ditto what the others said.

best bet is quality premium points, and clean em with a piece of coarse paper.

filing them is for last resort.. as you quickly remove the hard surface coating. once you get into base metal.. they pit faster and you have to file more.

and don't even think about sanding them. sanding them leaves microscopic grit and scratches that encourage arcing even more.

clean with paper.. or move to a arid dry environment.
