Still trying to figure out everything on my tractor by the serial # it is a 861 live pto how does the live pto work and also when sitting on the tractor right side under seat there is a lever what does this work and on the hydro pump there is a lever that moves right or left it is set in the middle now is this for pressure any help appreciated
Thanks

I'll tackle the first two questions.

1. How does the live PTO work? You have a two stage clutch (double clutch). As you release the clutch, the first stage engages the PTO, then as you raise the clutch the tractor starts to move.

2. What is lever on the right under the seat? Horizontal is for position control - the lift is set depending on the touch control lever, ideal for things like mowers. Pointed down is for Draft control, ideal for ground implements such as plows.

On the valve on the hydro pump, I'll leave that to others but I will say you have a vane pump and your tractor is likely an early 860.

The 600/700/800/900 series ran from 1955-1957 then the 601/701/801/901 series ran from 1958-1962. The serial numbers on the X00 series were from 1-145000. Then Ford started over at 1001 and continued through 172000 for the X01 series. As you can see there was a X00 series tractor AND a X01 series tractor with serial numbers from 1001-145000.
The vane pump on your 86X indicates that it was an early 860, not a 861. The vane pump was replaced by the piston pump about 1956.

By the serial number you say 861 well explain that. The model number sits above the serial number so are you saying it says 8 6 1 above the serial number??? If yes you have an 801 series not an 800. As for the live PTO half way down on the clutch stops the tractor from moving all the way down stops both tractor and PTO

To enjoy the benefit of live pto you will have to change the clutch rod clevis pin to the rear hole.

Ok then made from 1955 till 1957. Had a 172 engine and the smaller carb then the 801 series.
