Ford 740 row crop

This is the tractor I was asking about in an earlier post. I can't
find one for sale on any of the normal places like Y T , eBay,
Craigslist or Tractorhouse. Trying to figure out what it's worth
and how rare it is. Runs good ,no smoke and everything
works, all fluids have been changed. Thanks for your help

That is the standard 740 Row Crop. It is NOT a Hi-Crop or Hi-Clearance. The 740 may not be as common as a 950/960 but they are not rare. It's a $1500-$2000 tractor around here.

depends on where you are.

in areas where they were not used.. they are harder to find.. thus cost more.

as with anything. condition matters too.

i've bought rowcrops from sub 1000 to nearing 3000 $.. just depends on condition.. goodies.. etc. distance.. etc..

Did this model have power steering ? This one has the cylinder, pump and all the hookup but the top hose is broken and the belt is not on the pump, looks to me it was added on.

IMHO.. more common to see a 7x0/9x0 rowrop with PS than a ag model 6x0/8x0 with power steering.

and rowcrop ps is different htan ag models.. single sector, 1 cyl..e tc..

In 1956 Power Steering was introduced as standard equipment on all 700/900 series Row Crop tractors. It was optional on the 600/800 Utility tractors.

I can't tell if that's grey paint or primer, but it's recent and whoever did it didn't mask anything. Notice the over spray below the doglegs, and the worst part is that it looks like it got into the radiator and clogged the fins. I would knock off at least $500.00 from any offer just because of the potential of needing a new radiator, plus you don't know what else he may have messed up and be trying to hide with the fresh paint.

Sure must be location.
in my area, a working decent 740 listed at $1800
would start a serious fight with all the guys with trailers pulling up :)
90x series NFs pop up here once in awhile, always expensive,
3-5k usually.
700's almost never.
last one I saw for sale here was that blue one with a loader that Vito? posted a pic of recently
it was a lot of $, don't want to say exactly...his business if it's his

the fresh paint is only 15 years old and the tractor has been running ever sense. don't think there is an issue with the radiator. yes it is a bad paint job that never got finished but never the less its a good running tractor and everything works. thanks for your knowledgeable input.

NoNewParts,

Did you see it up for sale on Craigslist in upstate NY? I do own the
tractor and didn't pay the asking price.I have removed the loader
and it will be going up for sale again shortly.I have to thin out the
herd a little as some of my interests are changing.

[where are you at,I may have some interest in it,please call or e-mail me a phone number. thank wayde

yep, that's the one.
Actually, I saw it listed for sale a few years before too.
It was a bit too much $ for me both times.
Glad to see you removed the loader. That would have been first on the list if it was mine.
Did the loader beat it up much?
Send me an email when you decide on a price.
still is probably out of my price range, but I take a look
at all the NF's around here.

When I read this...

I thought that you were saying that you were the one that painted it 15 years ago, and I was ready to eat crow. And and then I read this...

No, this one is in ms. I bought it yesterday. May sell it later, not sure yet.

Do you know the person you bought it from real well, and did you witness that paint job 15 years ago? Or are you only going on what the seller has told you? It sure doesn't look like a 15 year old paint job to me, but I guess pictures can be deceiving. I still think that picture of the grill shows a good sized section of radiator fins being completely clogged by paint.

I knew the man most of my life, he died about 5 years ago and he gave the tractor to his grandson who is a real dear friend of mine, so I know the tractor real well. Was just wanting to get a average price around the country about what the tractor is worth. I put it in YT last night at 2500. and will see what happens. the guy was in his 70's when he attempted to paint the tractor. it will need new paint.

Loader didn't beat it at all.I put the loader on a 2000 series row
crop.Looks better as the tractor is blue. When I power washed the
740 the blue paint came off.
