Bolster(?) removal

The big 1.5 in thick u--shaped going from front axle and pinned to the oil pan? How to get it out if the way? Trying to remove oil pan.

It's a 65 5000, and yes, it is as described. I can only see to
do it by removing front axle. Quick response please!?

I don't have a 5000 but with the cast oil pan that connects to the front bolster the only way to remove is to remove the bolster first. I would remove the entire front axle, bolster, and wheels as one unit if possible on your tractor, it would make the process much simpler. Just use a couple of jack stands to support.

The U shape piece you refer to is the front axle. I prefer to remove it and the bolster at the same time. I had a bracket that bolts to the front of the bolster that I use as a handle when I roll the entire unit out of the way on the front wheels.

On the 5000 the axle has to come off then front support. The rear of front axle piviot pin is in pan. If 5200 row crop axle will stay with front support.

Not true. I've rolled dozens of front axle/bolster combinations off of 5000/6600 etc. tractors. The front wheels make for very nice rolling jacks. The only trick is that you have to slide the two apart a few inches to allow the rear pin to drop out of the pan - not a big deal.

As Bern says you need to only roll it ahead a little. This can be facilitated by removing two upper bolts and replacing with longer ones or threaded rod. I doubt if anyone here responds slowly on purpose if they intend to respond.

Sorry for any unintended offense about a quick response. I
was just getting agitated at my difficulties, and that came
out. Getting all that stuff out of the way was difficult in the
extreme since I still had the loader on.
