Clamping the clutch?

The other day I cranked up the '63 ford 2000 after several weeks of sitting (I had been sick). It ran fine, but the first time I put it in gear I got a loud gear-scrape noise and it lurched forwards several feet. I think the clutch had stuck. The last time it did that, more than a decade ago, I had had to drive it all over the place before it unstuck.

I'm considering putting a c-clamp or something on the clutch pedal when it's in the shed, to keep the clutch from sticking. Is it safe to leave the clutch tied down? Or would that hurt the throwout mechanism over time?

I leave a cement block on the pedal of my 8N due to the clutch sticking. As for hurting any thing no it will not hurt it yo have it blocked or other wise locked down

I use a 2x4 scrap.Doesnt have to be blocked all the way down.If a clutch does it once it will repeat. The clutch can seize to the flywheel or pressure plate.Metal particles embedded in the clutch facing rusts to the fly wheel and pressure plate.

This is how I do it. Picture is an 8N but I do it
also on a 601.

I block mine with a piece of wood as the others have said.
I've not had any trouble with it damaging anything.

A hook or similar tool is supplied with new tractors to hold the clutch disengaged during long periods of non use.

By the way The Allis tractors of years past hand a part just so a guy could lock the clutch pedal down so that the clutch would not stick

block is also handy for winter starting and warm-up.
and is a sorta safety don't run me over thing
ya, I know I'm supposed to be in the seat, but in hard winter,
waking them up takes some here and there work sometimes.

tip for the absent-minded...when you shut it down in gear,
on a slight slope, tarping it and blocking the clutch.....
it will move.. :D

I use a 4X4 long enough to wedge in between the peddle and the steering linkage. Been doing it for a couple years. No more sticking.

If it wasn"t a 4000 HD Industrial with the sub frame, I would fix the problem (I think) but the board will work until I have to change the clutch
