Still trying to diagnose engine knock

I've checked most everything suggested so far, and haven't gotten anywhere yet. The only thing I haven't looked into is the balancer. One thing I did find was the fuel line between two injectors was leaking from a crack...replaced it, but it still knocks. I also noticed something about the knock making a loud almost screeching noise when I throttle down...it sounds like that noise is coming from the muffler, like it is amplifying the squeak.
Something else I noticed was that the coolant is foamy after running.

+1 on that. Coolant shouldn't be foamy. Fill radiator to the point where you can see water with the cap off. Run the tractor. If you see ANY bubbles, head gasket.

You didn't say diesel or gas. Gas no, diesel probably as diesels don't like water in the combustion chamber.....so I'm told and read repeatedly.

One thing you can do if gas. Pull the spark plugs and look at them and if you can look down into the cylinders at the top of the pistons.

If you find one or two that are nice and clean as compared to the others yes on the head gasket leaking. Water washes away the carbon.

Sorry, I didn't identify the tractor in this thread. It's a 65 5000 diesel. I will, Lord willing, take the radiator cap off and run it to look for bubbles...I expect that I will. What set of gaskets should I get? Whole set, upper or lower?

A compression check will show you which cylinder/s that the head gaskets has blown. With a gas, this is easy to test, by pulling the sprak plug. Diesel is abit more challenging ni pulling injectors. We had a 5000 gas that if we worked it hard, it would blown the water out of the radiator, then overheat.
