601 clutch adjustment

Decided to mess with my 641 again so I can kick it outta my garage. Want the space for another project.

Rebuilt the engine and tractor over the past 2 years. Put a clutch in it and a sherman trans.
Went to adjust the clutch pedal since I had to replace the adj part of the linkage (I bent mowing a few years back) Adjusted it all the way in and its still way off. Have to push the clutch pedal almost halfway down to make the clutch disengage.

Gonna have to rethread the rod to make it work, unless Im missing something.

Is a sherman shorter then the factory nosecone?

That sounds about right - New clutch will require more pedal movement than your old, worn out clutch which released near the end of pedal travel. The important part of clutch adjustment is the 1/2-3/4" free play at the top to clear the release bearing.

Shermans are the exact same length as the transmission input shaft.

I"m with Dollar Bill. Sherman is a direct replacement fit and you should be able to adjust the linkage no problem to work. Unles.....you did what I did one time and put the disk in backwards. I was doing the clutch on an early 4000 which is the same as your 601 and was hooting the breeze with a friend and not paying attention and put the disk facing the wrong wat and couldn"t get the adjustment for the linkage, had to split her again and fix it

With it all adjusted that pedal starts out about 1/2 way down already.

I even messed with the clutch fork adjustment.

Stuck the camera in there too see if the disc is in right. Its correct.

I wonder if my pressure plate was set up wrong.

Gonna rethread the rod it looks like.
