ford 3000 injection pump removal

This site that is very nice to host this forum is very reasonably priced in its manuals...

Ford 3000 I&T Shop manual

Has a good set of instructions and we all consider it a must have for most tasks. Was looking it over few days ago during a break working on my 3000 gasser and remember seeing the pics for timing the fuel pump.

If memory serves, there are 2 kinds of pumps, and am not familiar with differences. The brains of the outfit should be able to help you more when it comes to diesels.

Don't be afraid to use the search features at the top right on "Modern view" where diagnosing and dealing with those pumps has been discussed many times.

Welcome to the forums!

As crazylocha says, you really do need a manual for your tractor.
The rotary pumps are easy.
First of all, make a note of which line the pump is timed to. See photo below.
Remove the injector and inlet/outlet lines from the pump. Remove the small cover on the front of the main timing cover. Remove 3 screws that hold the gear onto the pump shaft. The gear will be held captive by the timing cover so it can not skip time. And the gear is indexed to the pump shaft so it will only go on one way.
Remove 3 bolts that hold the body of the pump to the block plate and the pump can be removed.
Replace in reverse order.

PS,
You really should disconnect your battery first as it is difficult to get at the back bolt that holds the pump onto the engine. Would be very easy to spark the battery/solenoid cables with the wrench when you are trying to remove it.
And with open fuel lines and all...
