Ford 800 power problems

My ford 800 was lunging some so my friend(mechanic) replaced the points wires etc. It runs great until I am mowing or maybe in higher rpm cruising with no load. I blew out the gas line again and it sees to flow well. We put a clear line filter on that is not vertical but it doesn't seem to be going dry. My buddy checked the carburetor before and seemed to have it right. I thought maybe it may be the mixture adjustment but I'm looking for advise before I bug my friend again. Thanks

Have you taken a small light and checked for crud in the tank? The fuel flow can be drawing it to the in-tank screen temporarily plugging it.

In line fuel filter?

Designed for gravity flow fuel systems? (Nearly all are not.)

Post back.
