Just got home with a Bush Hog® 6' model 406.
Been looking for one of these for about 3 years now. Missed a couple at auctions and bought a goofy Ford job once by mistake which I got rid of so it's a good day to bring this home.
I've had a 405 5' for about 8 years now and it is just a great, indestructable machine. Wasn't wide enough to cover my tire tracks though.
Everything runs smooth on the new one - u joints, gears. Blades are good. Plenty of life left in the slip clutch discs though I'll need to adjust them for 37 hp.
Seller put an awful color on it but I don't much care about that.
Gonna have to make a couple of mods to the hitch as it's set up for cat 2 and will definately need to put some sta bars on the tractor.
Never did use them before.
I jerry rigged the pins to put it on the tractor for a test run in my yard.
3000 hefts it ok but I'm sure I'll want to get those bumper weights on before I use it much.
Vito?

Here's the old one. Kenny has dibs on it but if he doesn't want it it'll go on craigslist.
Weighs 800+ lbs so I'll have to tell the 8Ners they can't heft it.

Running the lift arms all the way inside the A-frame should get you at the standard Cat I width.

Jerry,

I will call and see what is up with it.I should of just sent it by freight.he should be up this way in about 2 or 3 weeks.

Jerry,
I like the adjustable style of Stabalizer bars. Set it up like you have in the picture with the mower offset to the left. That way it will mow all of the wheel track on that side. I then run with the right wheel just on the edge of the uncut grass. Seams to do a better job of cutting that way.
I run the wheel weights on the inside of my front tires with my 6 ft. Just right to keep the front wheels on the ground (Most of the time!!).

No Hurry Vito.
I was looking things over this afternoon and with a couple of pieces of angle iron and drill a few holes (not in the bumper) I could put 2 of these on the front for the time being.
Should work fine and don't even look too bad.

They are great. watch the clamp part at the bottom of the unit. if it breaks loose from the deck. the mounting bolts wont stay tight. dont ask me how I know.thats alot of mower for a smaller tractor.
