Fluid Type and Fill on Ford 3000

I have a gas model Ford 3000 tractor. How do I check fluid levels, appears to be two fill lcoations - by shifter and rear end but don't see any dip stick, maybe a small screw that will spill out when full? What fluid can I use on this type tractor for each location. Any help is appreciated.

utf fluid meeting the m2c134 spec is fine. MOST utf sold today will meet it.

in the engine.. i'd opt for 15w40 in any but arctic climate.. even if a gasser. in arctic.. i'd go for a 10w30 C(s) rated oil as well.

yep.. trans , seperate and combined hydro/rear sump.

check plugs as you surmised.

Kurt,
Welcome to the Ford board.
You're gonna get told this sooner or later so I'll just be the first.
Get an owner's manual!
It's chock full of useful info about lubing, adjusting, using and maintaining your tractor.
Available from this site, ebay and maybe Amazon.
Most people here are going to recommend that you use a generic HyTrans or UTF in both the tranny and rear end of your tractor.
Look at the label. It will say meets or exceeds Ford 134D specs.
It is rather thin - like about 40 wt. But guys have been running that stuff in their tractors for 10,000+ hours with good results.
Check Wal Mart, Fleet Farm, Tractor Supply, etc for it.
You will need about 8 gallons to change the fluid in both the tranny and rear end.
Use the same stuff in your power steering reservoir too if you have PS.
Fill level plugs are circled in red in the photo below.
DO NOT loosen the slotted screw marked by the arrow.

(quoted from post at 22:15:34 08/17/13) Newbie here. What is that part above the red arrow?

That's the flow control valve. The black knob controls the flow rate of the hydraulic fluid so you can speed up or slow down your hydraulics. It's a little counter intuitive, at least it was to me. Screwing it in clockwise speeds things up and unscrewing it counterclockwise slows it down.

Doesn't matter whether you are sitting in the seat, standing beside the tractor or horizontal.
