Hard steering Jubilee

To initiate a turn the steering seems "locked" and I have to jerk on the wheel to get it to turn. Especially difficult turning left, and not so bad turning right. The farther the steering wheel is turned, the steering gets much easier so as the turn approaches the stops either way, the steering feels normal. Opinions requested as to what may be wrong. I haven't ever been into this type of steering gear. I have considered three things: worn teeth on the sectors, worn out ball nut assembly, and worn or damaged steering shaft bearings. Please tell me your experience with steering problems you've had. Thanks

Those manual steering boxes are very, very simple.
I suggest you open it and inspect it. Put new sector seals in it and more than likely replace your upper steering shaft bearing.
That bearing gets dry from lack of lube and destroys itself.
Worst thing is you have to pull the tin off to get at it.
Those boxes were made to last about 150 years with minimal maintenance and you're only 1/3 of the way there.

not even so bad on a 53-64

you can just pull the hood center section top.. gauges of course.. etc.

WAY easier than an N or post 65..
