Been doing a little work on this 2000. I think it has a 6 speed transmission as in 3 and a high/low. Some one broke the clutch linkage where the pedal rod hooks to the rod that has the throw out bearing on it and welded on a piece of steel to fix it. Problem if thew way it is when I drove it and tried the PTO it was hard to get to go in and the pedal was hard to push down to the point the clutch would let go but sort of felt like it might be a 2 stage clutch just bad linkage so is this live PTO with 2 stage clutch or not??
Thanks

we had '64 super dexta w/3 cyl perkins w/that trans and it had two hole clevis on clutch rod to utilize live pto function.

Agreed. Some, but not all 8 speed 3 cylinder 2000's had live PTO. All 6 and 4 speed tractors are trans driven.

Most 6 speed 2000's and 3000's had trans PTO, but live PTO was available. The only way to know for sure is to get the model number from the stamping on the flat spot or the sticker under the hood if it has one. The second-to-last character will be a 2 if it's trans PTO and a 3 if it's' live.

O looked at your first reply and see the reason for the HMMMMM.

On page 23 of the "Operation Section" of the Ford Operator's Manual for All Purpose and LCG Tractors, 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000, in the paragraph entitled "Manual Shift Power Take-off Operation, is a chart identifying the tractor and setup and then the engine rpm to obtain 540 PTO rpm.

First entry is 6 speed Ford 2000 and 3000 (Transmission PTO)
Fourth entry is 6 and 8 speed speed Ford 2000, 2110, 3000, and 4110 (Live PTO).

So sir you can lower your eyebrows!

I assure you my tractor is original, my tranny is definitely 3 hi and 3 low and I do have a 2 stage clutch.
